Lincoln County High opened their baseball season last week at the Sundevil Invitational tournament at Eldorado High in Las Vegas.

The Lnyx had one win, two losses and a tie to start with.

On Friday, they had losses to Foothill and Desert Pines 10-0 and 11-1.  On Saturday, they tied 5-5 with Eldorado, then beat Desert Pines 6-2.

This past Tuesday Lincoln opened the league season with huge wins over visiting Calvary Chapel.

Derek Shumway went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs and also pitched three scoreless innings as the Lynx completed a sweep of the Lions by scores of 33-2 and 26-0.

Colton Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Zack Shinkle finished 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs for Lincoln County, which pounded out 18 hits in the second game.

Mike Wood was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Chris Florence went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in the opener as the Lynx erupted for 15 runs in the second inning and 10 runs in the third.

Shinkle added three hits, and Paul Boag doubled twice for Lincoln County in the first game. McClain O’Connor and Shumway also had two hits apiece.

The Lynx (3-2-1) are on the road as they take part in the Bulldog Invitational at Mesquite this weekend, then host Needles in Panaca March 28.
