Following up on a suspected parole violation, led Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies to make arrests of five individuals on drug related charges in Caliente.
Sheriff Kerry Lee said the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation but it was tipped off by a parole violation being covered by the Adult Parole and Probation office in Ely.
Through that investigating, Lee said, they uncovered narcotics and other drug paraphernalia at a residence on Rowan Drive in Caliente.
Lee said that information and other information already obtained allowed the department to get search warrants which resulted in two other arrests.
He said the Eastern Nevada Narcotics Task Force was looking into a parole violation by Koby Budy and his arrest led to the arrest of two others, “and those three combined with an extended and ongoing investigation, led us to apply for a search warrant from Meadow Valley Justice Court and make the arrests,” Lee said.
Nevada Department of Fish and Wildlife was also involved as there was some unlawful wildlife found on the scene as well.
The five are Savannah Barnett, charged with possession of paraphernalia, under the influence of a controlled substance and child endangerment; Koby Budy, charged with possession of paraphernalia, child endangerment, and a probation violation; Travis Brown, charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana less than an ounce; Carter Sanford, charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia; and Anjenette Nelson, charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia.
All this information led to discovery of a separate wildlife crime, so Nevada Department of Fish and Wildlife was contacted who served a search warrant on the residence March 7, and found evidence that could implicate the suspects in further wildlife crimes, in particular, possession of illegal game.
