County Treasurer Shawn Frehner held the latest tax auction April 4 of five parcels of land.

The total amount of the sale was $51,800.

Frehner said 19 bidders attended the auction. She said there were 21 parcels in the Treasurer in Trust when notification of the sale was published. However, 17 property owners came in and paid the taxes prior to the auction.

She said the largest parcel, in the Pony Springs area, sold for $20,200, and a small parcel in Rachel was sold for $800.

Tax auctions are held after sufficient notice and time for delinquent property taxes is given although not every year, and Frehner said this one and the one last year were the first that the County had held since 2004.
