Sophomore Madison Mathews of Lincoln County won the women’s division at the Bulldog Invitational last week in Mesquite. Her time was 22:18 for the 2.85 mile course, the best time of her career.

Lincoln had four of the first six places for 15 points. Amy Thomas was third in 25:34, Mayah Hafen fifth in 30:07 and Ally Wadsworth sixth in 31:06.

For the boys, Tyler Frehner was 7th in 19:48, Ben Culverwell 9th in 20:08, Alex Gomez 11th in 20:27, Cody Dirks also in 20:27, and Carlin Christiansen 13th in 22:04.

The NIAA Southern Division III Championships are this Saturday at Foothill High in Henderson, the Southern Division I, 1A, III Regional Championships Oct. 30 in Sunset Park at Sunset and Eastern in Las Vegas, and the NIAA State Championships Nov. 8 also at Sunset Park.
