The Bureau of Land Management Ely District is proposing to offer for sale two adjacent 40-acre parcels of public land near South Industrial Way, about 2 miles north of Ely, in White Pine County, Nev. The BLM will accept written comments on the proposal during a 45-day public comment period which ends March 2, 2015.

One 40-acre parcel is being offered through a modified-competitive sale. The parcel contains a batch plant and defunct gravel pit previously operated by Terry and Randy Reck. In consideration of these factors, the BLM has identified Terry and Randy Reck as the designated bidders for the sale of this parcel. The designated bidder has the option to meet the high bid. If they do not meet the high bid, the Reck brothers will remove the batch plant.

The adjacent 40-acre parcel is being offered through a competitive sale. It is vacant land.

Neither parcel includes mineral rights; all minerals are reserved to the United States.

The sale, as proposed, would be a public, oral auction and would be held at the BLM Ely District Office, 702 North Industrial Way, Ely, Nevada. Bidding on the sale parcels would begin at the established FMV of $81,580 for each parcel.

The White Pine County Commissioners requested this sale and placed it at the top of their land sale priority list for public land sales in accordance with the White Pine County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2006 (WPCCRDA). The Commission expressed their support of Terry and Randy Reck as the designated bidders for a modified competitive sale and they also support a competitive sale of the adjacent 40-acre parcel.

The proposed sales would be conducted in accordance with the WPCCRDA, comply with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, and are in conformance with the 2008 Ely Resource Management Plan. Five percent of the proceeds from the proposed land sale will go to the Nevada State General Education Fund, 10 percent to White Pine County, and the remainder deposited in a special account to be used for archaeological resources, natural resource protection, recreation and wilderness planning, and other opportunities in White Pine County.
