Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee said the girls refused every request and ran away from the man, later identified as 45-year old Kenneth Goins, Jr. of Louisville, N.C.
The girls went to a residence they knew, alerted the adult at the home, who called the sheriff’s department.
Officers responded and took a description of the vehicle, a 2003 Ford Explorer, with North Carolina plates.
An APB was put out for Goins with White Pine, Las Vegas, and Utah Highway Patrol and later, a Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle near Crystal Springs on U.S. 93 and made the stop. Goins was arrested on misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges of luring a child under the age of 16 without parental consent, as well as DUI charges.
Lee said he did not know why Goins was in Lincoln County, having no known connections, and has already had one appearance in Meadow Valley Justice Court. He is being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
Lee praised the girls, whom he said, “did exactly the right thing. They refused his offers, and went to the home of an adult they knew, who called the sheriff.”
