Jerry Elbert Hudson of Caliente, the man charged with murder in the death of 64-year old Carol Hullinger of Caliente last May, had his first appearance in court and has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Meadow Valley Justice Court before Judge Mike Cowley Nov. 2-4.

District Attorney Daniel Hooge said, “We go through the preliminary hearing first with Judge Cowley. He reviews the evidence instead of a grand jury, and then Hudson will be asked to enter a plea in district court.”

In addition, the two men arrested for the disturbance and stabbing event at the Hide Away Club in Caliente Aug. 13. have not yet had a hearing before Judge Cowley to enter a plea, according to Hooge. “Both have been charged with burglary and battery with a deadly weapon, and substantial bodily harm,” he said.

All three men are in custody at the Lincoln County Detention Center in Pioche.
