Lincoln County’s boys basketball team played in the Vegas Invitational Dec. 28 – 30 against stiff competition. “The kids played some tough teams,” coach Matt Cameron said.
That they did. The Lynx lost to three California schools – with scores of 88-33 in a Monday game against St. Joseph, 65-32 against Buhach Colony on Tuesday and 56-23 against Buckley also on Tuesday.
Against St. Joseph, the Lynx were able to stay fairly close early with the score 26-17 at the end of the first quarter. But St. Joseph broke the game open by outscoring the Lynx 38-3 in the second quarter. Samuel Anderson scored nine points for Lincoln, and Kobe Walker added seven. St. Joseph had four players in double figures.
Against Buhach Colony, Derek Cox led the Lynx with 10 points, and for Buhach Colony, Dylan Jennings had 12.
On Wednesday, the Lynx lost to Pahranagat Valley 48-31.
The Lynx (1-12) head to Mesquite to play Virgin Valley tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. They go to Needles on the 8th and then head to Laughlin on the 9th.
At the tournament, the team’s thoughts were back home with a community member. Coach Cameron asked that this message be shared. “I would like to send my thoughts out to the Wright family for their tragic loss.”
