Lincoln County’s Zack Rowe (132) was the only local wrestler to win an individual title at the 14-team Pahranagat Valley Wrestling Invitational in Alamo Jan. 8.

Boulder City claimed eight individual titles to win the team crown with 253 points. Garrett Leavitt (106), Zane Dennington (113), D.J. Reese (120), Jimmy Brown (126), Tyler-James Rushworth (138), Octavian Trumbo (145), Dillon Viera (152) and Kyle Gossard (285) all won titles for the Eagles.

Moapa Valley was second with 169½ points. Virgin Valley (108), Sunrise Mountain (105½), and Lincoln County (85) rounded out the top five. Pahranagat had 64 points.

Virgin Valley’s Rafael DeSantiago (160) and Marlan Felshaw (170), Moapa Valley’s Sterling Simmons (182) and Trystin Deal (220) along with Eureka’s Wyatt Gibbs (195) won the other individual titles.

Rowe decisioned Brandon Lewis of Agassi Prep 12-5 in the finals.

Ben Culverwell of Lincoln took third at 106, pinning Jorge Cervantes of Moapa Valley. Jesse Mathews 138, lost to Tyler-James Rushworth of Boulder City.

Pahranagat Valley’s David Ingram (145) was second to Octavian Trumbo of Boulder City. Oscar Heredia (120) took third place with a pin of Garrett Todd of Eureka, and Thayne Solorio (170) was fourth, losing by pin to Austin Boerst of Round Mountain.

PVHS coach Brad Loveday said it was “a good tournament with good competition for the wrestlers.”

The Panthers do not have a match this week, but travel to tournaments at Western JV Rumbler in Las Vegas Jan. 22-23, and Enterprise, Utah Jan. 29-30.

In the meantime, Lincoln County participates in a tournament this weekend at Spring Creek and on Jan. 22-23 at the Pine View Invitational in St. George, Utah.

The Southern Division III league duals are Feb. 5-6 at Agassi Prep, and the Southern League championships for seeding to the state tournament, are Feb. 13 at West Wendover.

State, for all classifications, this year will be Feb. 20 at the Star of the Desert Arena at the Primm Valley Resort.
