Residents are invited to take part in a new gardening program. Holly Gatzke and Keith Larson, members of the Lincoln Communities Action Team, are spearheading the Weed and Walk program and putting on presentations for help/information on getting your gardens ready for the season.

“The Weed and Walk program is a pilot program that hopes, with the help of Lincoln County participants, of growing into a community garden for the City of Caliente,” Larson said.

Gatzke will be holding two gardening presentations at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Office (across from Caliente Elementary). The first one will be on Monday, May 9 at 9 a.m. The subject: garden planning. The second presentation will be the following Monday, May 16 at 9 a.m. Subject: garden preparation and planting.

Participants will meet after each presentation to discuss further planning and growth of the program.
