‘Judge Pete’ honored on 80th birthday

An open house was held Saturday at the Panaca Senior Center for Sarah “Judge Pete” Getker. On Feb. 5, 1982, she was appointed Justice of the Peace, the first woman to hold that position in Lincoln County. She retired in Jan. 2007 and was appointed Senior Justice of the Peace, meaning she can sit in Justice or Municipal in Nevada.

She is active in the LDS Church, is a Cub Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, and is a big advocate of the spay and neuter program for pets.
