Beatty made the league playoffs last year and Coach Leo Verzilli said they hope to do it again this year.

However, Pahranagat Valley made it a bit tougher for the Hornets to fulfill that goal as they put a stranglehold on the team with a pair of double-digit victories (19-1, 18-1) last week in Beatty.

It was only the third and fourth games of the season for the Hornets (1-3) while PVHS is now 9-2.

The games were not close at all. Pahranagat pitchers held the Hornets to just two hits in the first game. They hammered Armando Gonzalez for 13 hits and piled up the scores each inning, starting with a nine-run outburst in the first inning, followed by two five-run innings.

Beatty’s only run came in the first inning.

In the second game, the Panthers ran away with it right from the beginning, scoring 14 runs in the first inning and four in the second.

This week, Pahranagat has a non-league game at Mojave on Wednesday and plays at Sunrise Mountain, April 10. Their next home set is a league double-header with Sandy Valley, April 20.
