Post Commander Larry Wimsatt, of VFW Post 7114, went to the Caliente Firehall to extend a personal invitation to all Lincoln County first responders and their spouses. He invited dispatchers, firemen, sheriff’s officers, Nevada Highway Patrol, and Emergency Medical Technicians to a Chinese dinner being hosted by the VFW and Auxiliary in their honor on September 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The dinner will be prepared by Indiana Adams, from Mr. Karpet.

Those invited can RSVP to Wimsatt at (702) 280-4572 by September 1. Because of the bar being open, they are asking that no one under 21 attend. Any veteran wanting to join Post 7114 can contact Wimsatt at that number.

This is one of many activities that Post 7114 does to keep in touch with Lincoln County and show appreciation to those who reach out and serve where needed.

The Auxiliary is also looking for pictures of all veterans in the area, past and present. Copies of pictures (no originals, please) can be given to Sharon Wimsatt or Alice Rodowick.

The Freedom Festival will be held at the VFW on November 10. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and barbecue chicken will be served. More information will be available as the plans are finalized.
