Lincoln County Kids Take Part in Clark County Fair

The Clark County Fair and Rodeo took place at the Logandale Fairgrounds April 11-15. Folks came from all over to enjoy the entertainment, food, games, rides, and to watch livestock and rodeo competitions. Both the Lincoln County Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the Pahranagat Valley FFA competed in events at the fair. Two students from Lincoln FFA showed animals. Shayla Mathews showed a steer and Cassidy Mathews showed a swine. Guy Heaton, Ada Heaton, and Wylee Mitchell were part of the team for livestock evaluation. Alamo Power Board News

The Alamo Power Board met March 13. Lewis Sharp submitted a letter of resignation as a board member and the board approved it. The board will post the board vacancy in the Lincoln County Record for three weeks and close the inquiry on April 12 at 4 p.m. Attorney Shain Manuele is working on writing up the current limiting policy. The board also approved and accepted a lease agreement with Ed Higbee for the land the radio equipment is located on. Alamo Town Board News

The Alamo Town Board met March 14. Mike Strong Sr. made a public comment about having the school district possibly take over and lease or own the baseball field. The school district doesn’t currently own any parks, so this would be the first. This item will be put on the next agenda and board members agreed to research what might need to happen to make such a request possible. Alamo Sewer & Water News

Alamo Sewer and Water met on March 6. Crystal Zander’s additional hookup has been approved as long as she talks to the Lincoln County Planning Department and pays the associated fees. The board has also approved using Bret Whipple for the 2017-2018 audit. A representative for Whipple was present at the meeting and assured the district that it will receive an audit report the first week in September and communication will be improved. Students Showcase Science Projects

Pahranagat Valley Elementary School held their 10th Science, Art, Literacy, and Book Fair Night on March 6. Families came to see their students’ artwork and read their stories, as well as look over and read students’ science fair projects in each of the classrooms. Students asked questions about various topics and used the scientific method to find answers. Topics included: How much weight can stand on eggshells? What bubble solution makes the best bubbles? What effects do sugary drinks have on our teeth? Which toothpaste cleans the best? How do you recover aluminum from soda cans? Can a magnet...
